With consistently sunny weather, calm seas and cooler temperatures, November is the beginning of high season on Koh Phi Phi.
The beginning of November is a good time to come to enjoy the island before the crowds really start to arrive in the middle of the month. Visits to Maya Bay and snorkeling trips will be readily available from longtail operators and all of Koh Phi Phi’s bars, restaurants, shops and dive centers will be open.
The spectacular dive sites of Hin Daeng and Hin Muang will be accessible (they are closed during monsoon season as they’re just too far out for boats to safely visit). Go on a Phi Phi liveaboard where you spend the night on the boat to maximise your diving time and get to the dive sites first (and make it a bit cheaper than doing day dives too).
Be aware of the date of the Full Moon Party on Koh Phangan (see the 2013 Full Moon Party dates here) – a day or so after the party there will be a large amount of tourists arriving on the island after having it large at the Full Moon, and it will become subsequently more difficult to get a hotel room due to high demand.
Koh Phi Phi hotel prices go up in November due to the beginning of high season. Due to the huge demand for hotel rooms, it’s worth reading previous guest reviews to find somewhere decent as you can spend a lot of money on a dump if you don’t do some research.
Ferry services will be running daily to the island from Phuket and Krabi.
