Koh Phi Phi’s beaches offer something for everyone – the key thing is choosing the beach that suits you best. The central Tonsai area is heavily geared to near-24 hour partying, but you don’t need to go too far away to get peace and quiet on Koh Phi Phi
Koh Phi Phi Beaches
Tonsai Bay and Tonsai Village
Tonsai Bay is the main arrival and departure hub for Koh Phi Phi as it is deep water. Tonsai Village, the main village on Phi Phi Don is located here.
East Tonsai
Tonsai East is the section of beach area past the chukit Resort following on to Long Beach. The main draw of this area is the fantastic views of the Bay and Phi Phi Leh.
West Tonsai
If you walk pass the pier and keep on towards the hospital you get to West Tonsai which is much quieter than either Tonsai village or East Tonsai. There are not many shops and just a few resorts here
Loh Dalum Beach
Loh Dalum is almost entirely enclosed by limestone cliffs and it is very beautiful indeed, although it can get busy. The border between here and Tonsai is marked by a large Banyan Tree at the narrowest part of the island.
Long Beach
Long Beach boasts some of the softest and the whitest sand on the islands. It is near enough to Tonsai village to be convenient but not so near that one is disturbed by noise at night time.
Laem Tong Beach
At the far northern end of Phi Phi Don, 45 minutes by Longtail Boat, Laem Tong Beach is beautiful, quiet and secluded since it can only be reached by boat. There are only four upmarket resorts on Laem Tong beach and little else.

Phak Nam Beach
Hat Phak Nam is situated on the East Coast of Phi Phi Don. It is a secluded bay with a small beach that is home to a small fishing village. It is possible to get there by foot but it’s a rugged hike across a rugged hill and you would have to be pretty rugged to attempt it. It’s far easier and more practical to take a long boat taxi. It is also home to one resort only and if it is peace and quiet you are after then you couldn’t pick a better place.
Loh Ba Gao Bay
A peaceful and scenic bay half way up the east coast of Phi Phi Don, at 800 metres long, this is one of Phi Phi’s longer beaches the best coral being at the south end. There is only one place to stay – Phi Phi Island Village Beach Resort and Spa. The beach is lined with coconut trees. It is good for snorkeling, trekking and climbing.
Rantee Bay
The shape of Rantee Bay acts as a kind of breakwater and so the sea is usually exceptionally calm. It is on the Eastern side of the island and you can get there by foot continuing on from viewpoint. It is quite an adventurous, jungle journey though, so one is better off taking a taxi boat. There are also plenty of coconut trees lining the beach. You sit under them at your peril though, since when plummeting coconut makes contact with stationary cranial dome the results can be painful or worse.
Things To Do On Koh Phi Phi
Koh Phi Phi is an adventure playground if you want it to be – kayaking, snorkelling, diving, climbing, fishing – or simply stay on the beach
