Quick Advice On Where To Stay On Koh Lanta
There are several beaches running from north to south of the island. The entry point to Koh Lanta is the village of Saladan in the north – the two nearest beaches, Klong Dao beach and Phra Ae beach (also known as Long Beach) , are the most popular places to stay because they are conveniently near to Saladan. Klong Nin beach is a little further on and becoming increasingly popular too. Long Beach is our personal favourite – it’s really big, got lots of nightlife, but is still very unspoilt.
Southern Lanta for Seclusion
Further south on Lanta are Khlong Kong and Kantiang Bay, each with their own special charm and away from the crowds. Furthest south is one of Thailand’s finest luxury hotels, Pimalai, set in an amazing ocean view location amongst the protected National Park. It’s only rivalled by Layana, Lanta’s other 5 star resort on Long Beach which is already famous for its excellent service and small number of guests.
When’s The Best Time To Stay On Koh Lanta?
The Koh Lanta high season is traditionally November to April. December and January are EXTREMELY busy – you should book well in advance to secure the accommodation you want. From May to August the weather is usually still good but the island becomes very quiet – this is perfect for travellers seeking peace and quiet, but not so great for those wanting to socialise. During September to October the monsoon season is usually in full effect and there’s a lot of rain.
