Koh Phi Phi has a wide variety of accommodation, from luxury to basic – here are our recommendations of the best in luxury, mid-range and basic hotel categories.
There are scores of hotels to choose from on Koh Phi Phi, but prices tend to be higher than what you will pay elsewhere in Thailand, both due to Koh Phi Phi’s relative remoteness and the high demand for Koh Phi Phi hotel rooms all year round. If you’re specifically looking for a Koh Phi Phi Beach Bungalow, see our guide to the best places by the beach.
General advice: Check previous guest reviews of Koh Phi Phi hotels carefully before making a decision. With Koh Phi Phi so popular, booking ahead is definitely advisable rather than trusting to luck, even just for your first night so you have time to find alternative accommodation. Bear in mind that moving from beach to beach can be difficult with full travel luggage in tow, so you might want to have a look at our Koh Phi Phi Beach Guide to figure out which one to head for first.
Koh Phi Phi Luxury Places To Stay
Holiday Inn Resort Phi Phi Island
Location: Laem Thong Beach
This magnificent place is on Laem Thong Beach in the far north of Phi Phi Don. You are miles away from the noise and the crowds of the central beaches and facing clean white sand and a turquoise ocean. It is also one of the best places on Phi Phi to catch the sunset.
The Holiday Inn grounds are leafy and also extensive. Most of the rooms have a view of the sea and spacious verandahs from which to contemplate it. The cottages have a forest like feel to them. You are at the top end of the market here so everything is pricey, but if you are in the mood for a luxury splurge and want to enjoy one of the best locations on Phi Phi, this is a viable option. They do not serve drinks in buckets.

Phi Phi Island Cabana Hotel
Location: Tonsai Beach
The most important choice you need to make when booking this hotel is ‘do I want to be near the heart of the action with all the night time noise?’ If the answer is yes, the Island Cabana is a good choice. It was the first of its kind on Phi Phi and it sprawls across acres of unspoiled land with quick access to both Tonsai Beach and neighbouring Loh Dalum Beach.
This low-rise place prides itself as one of the pioneering luxury ‘green’ accommodation projects, and it is only a pity that other developers in the Tonsai area did not follow suit. The tranquil greenery does make it a pleasant break from the rest of the hectic village. The hotel has an old fashioned feel to it as do the rooms. Ask for a room overlooking the pool since they offer better views. Also be aware that the chairs around the swimming pool that overlook the sea are in hot demand, so be quick with your towel whatever your nationality.

P. P. Erawan Palms Resort
Location: Laem Thong Beach
This hotel is perfectly situated on Laem Thong Beach near the tip of Phi Phi Don. It is only some 400 metres from one of the island to the other. In the morning you can sit on the private beach watching the sun rise as the sea boatmen prepare for their days work. In the evening you can just wander across and chill out in the sunset bar.
The hotel has a traditional Thai, wooden themed ambience, with friendly staff and an excellent pool next to the beach. Happy hour on the beach involves displays of traditional Thai dancing and Muay Thai boxing, although the boxing is a little lackluster, not surprisingly, since this is hardly a place that engenders an atmosphere of predatory sporting violence.

Mid Range Koh Phi Phi Hotels
P.P. Palm Tree Resort
Location: Loh Dalum Beach
As with any hotel on Loh Dalum Beach or Tonsai Beach, before booking you must decide whether crowds and night time noise is not a problem for you. If it is partying and excitement that you crave, once back from boat trips or the beach, then the P.P. Palm Tree Resort is perfectly situated and is a solid mid market option right in the middle of the action.
Physically the resort is well designed with a magnificent swimming pool and well laid out garden area, despite the fact that it is also quite a small place. It also has a strict no smoking policy which will delight some and deter others. It certainly fits in with with the slightly boutique, fresh feel of the place, although staff are not particularly attentive and there are few frills on offer.

Phi Phi Banyan Villa Hotel
Location: Tonsai Beach
Phi Phi Banyan Villa is in a position on Tonsai Beach that is as central as it gets. That’s does mean you are in the heart of the action at night time with all attendant issues of noise. You are also right next to the beach and the beachside restaurant here is one of the most pleasant on Tonsai. The hotel itself is a solid and spacious mid range option.
The rooms are functional with hints of boutique and the hotel has an airy, almost colonial feel to it. The pool area here is a big plus as is the gym which is one of the best on the islands. It is also important to know that the wifi is patchy. It does not reach all the rooms.

Phi Phi Natural Resort
Location: Laem Thong Beach
On leafy grounds right next to quiet Laem Thong Beach, Many people rave about this place and there is a good reason for that – the reason being it is superb. It is beautifully designed and furnished in a familiar boutique wooden Thai traditional style and here it works really well. The rooms, villas and cottages come in a variety of shapes and sizes (and prices).
The pool is huge and sits right next to the beach. There are even coral reefs right in front of the hotel and it is one of the best snorkeling locations straight off the beach on Phi Phi. The one fly in the ointment is the restaurant which seems a trifle understaffed, the food also being indifferent.

Phi Phi The Beach Resort
Location: Long Beach
Long Beach is an excellent intermediate location if you want to be away from the noisy activity of Tonsai Village and appreciate somewhere tranquil yet also want to have easy access to the bright lights. It is also an exceptionally beautiful beach with sand so white it dazzles. The hotel is a little way from the beach built on a slope up the hill amongst the rocks. This gives one a rather nice bird’s eye view of the bay and a bit of exercise at the end of the day.
All this is coupled with rather eccentric Scandinavian all wood decor that feels like Finland. Tonsai village is a short boat ride away and there is a ‘taxi stand’ in the middle of the beach and prices are generally fairly standard. In many ways Phi Phi, The Beach Resort offers the best of all worlds.

Paradise Pearl Bungalows
Location: Long Beach
Situated on beautiful Long Beach a 15 minute longtail boat ride away from partyville on Tonsai, Paradise Pearl Bungalow is a good solid mid range option on a much quieter beach which is more conducive to rest and relaxation.
The rooms are huge but unfortunately the walls are thin. The location is simply wonderful being just a stone’s throw from the gleaming white sand. The restaurant has a good seafood barbeque.
If you like a quiet time but don’t have the budget to shell out for an exclusive villa in the north of the island, Paradise Pearl Bungalow is a good compromise option.

Koh Phi Phi Cheap Hotels
Orange Tree
Location: Tonsai Beach
It’s weird, it’s eccentric and it is most definitely orange. This little island of stone themed idiosyncrasy is in the centre of the most busy area of Phi Phi so be prepared to either be a party animal or an insomniac grump.
The owners have gone for a very modern feel with a touch of Star Trek and it works rather well. The staff are also easygoing and helpful.
The rooms are a little small but very well equipped. This is definitely one of the best budget options on Koh Phi Phi if you want to be in the thick of the action.

Phi Phi Relax Beach Resort
Location: Phak Nam Bay
Anywhere else in Thailand this place would be a rip off, but on Koh Phi Phi it is not given the inflated rates as a whole. It is one of the best budget places to stay on the island but only if the words ‘rustic’ and ‘isolated’ give you a frisson of positive anticipation. If they don’t then this resort is not the place for you.
It is indeed very rustic and and very isolated being on remote Phak Nam Beach away from everything on the east coast of the island. There is also only electricity between 6pm and 6am, so you are looking at some of the rough and some of the ready in many ways, which is exactly why lots of people rave about the Relax Resort. The huts are quintessential hammock-swinging-chic and the jungle is entirely authentic as is the ocean which is really not very far away.
