Thong Nai Pan, occasionally referred to as just ‘TNP’, is a pair of beaches in the northeastern corner of Koh Phangan. The two beaches, Ao Thong Nai Pan Yai and Ao Thong Nai Pan Noi, are traveller favourites, with clear water, beautiful white sand and a great selection of resorts.

Before Koh Phangan was famous for its Full Moon Party, Thong Nai Pan was a quiet beach area with a variety of bungalow resorts, bars and restaurants. Today, it’s kept much of its laid back vibe that made it such a legendary traveller hangout in the first place.
Of Thong Nai Pan’s two beaches, Ao Thong Nai Pan Yai is the larger, offering a wide range of hotels and beachside bars and restaurants. It’s a calm beach with clear water and no rocks or coral, making it a great beach for swimming.
Ao Thong Nai Pan Noi is the smaller of the two beaches but is also very popular, attracting a mix of backpackers, couples and families. Like Ao Thong Nai Pan Yai, Noi has calm, peaceful water with no coral reef, making it a great place to swim or explore in a kayak.
Although Thong Nai Pan is one of Koh Phangan’s most popular areas, it’s not as developed as Haad Rin and has less of a package tourist feel. There are beachside bars and restaurants on both of the Thong Nai Pan beaches offering Thai and Western food, plus a selection of drinks.
When it comes to accommodation, Thong Nai Pan has plenty to offer. Several of the island’s most luxurious resorts are built around its beaches, with private villas and amazing views. It’s also easy to find budget accommodation, whether in a beachside bungalow or a guesthouse.
Naturally beautiful, convenient thanks to the large variety of local restaurants and businesses, and full of great places of stay, the beaches of Thong Nai Pan are a great base for exploring Koh Phangan, as well as a fun, peaceful place to spend the day.
