The sand on Haad Son is bright and clean, with a variety of palm trees and jungle surrounding the beach. Like other beaches on Koh Phangan’s west coast, Haad Son has shallow water and a coral reef just off the shore that make it less than ideal for swimming during low tide.
Wait until high tide, however, and swimming out to the tropical reef offers access to a colourful variety of tropical fish. Haad Son is most popular with couples and families, many of whom opt for the beach because of its quiet atmosphere and lack of development.
