One of Koh Samui’s quieter beaches, Mae Nam stretches for almost seven kilometres along the island’s northern coastline. The beach faces directly towards the nearby island of Koh Phangan, providing a beautiful view in the afternoon and evening.
Mae Nam Beach is one of Koh Samui’s least crowded beaches, with far fewer people relative to its size than Bophut and Chaweng. The water is clear and calm, with a gradual slope, making it a good beach for swimming.
Unlike Chaweng, which feels like the island’s centre of activity, and Bophut, which remains busy thanks to its famous Fishermen’s Village, Mae Nam Beach has a laid back feel that’s closer to a small village than a major tourist destination.
