Best known for its Fisherman’s Village, Bophut is a charming beach on the north coast of Koh Samui. Although Bophut has a great selection of hotels and restaurants, it’s retained more of a classic Thai/Chinese feel than the more heavily developed Chaweng and Lamai.

Bophut can be split into two separate areas. The first is Bophut Beach, which is a calm, peaceful beach with clean water and a quieter atmosphere than Lamai and Chaweng. The second area is Bophut Fisherman’s Village, which is a unique historical walking street and market.
Inside the Fisherman’s Village, you’ll find a selection of shops and street stalls selling everything from locally produced handicrafts to tailor made suits. The Fisherman’s Village also has a great selection of Thai and international restaurants, as well as a few small bars and local cafes.
Bophut Beach is a small but popular beach that’s lined by palm trees. The beach has a selection of loungers set up for visitors, many of which can be rented for a modest fee. The water is clean and calm, with little aside from the occasional speedboat to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere.
Despite Bophut’s popularity, it’s devoid of the loud nightlife and girly bars that are easy to find in Chaweng and Lamai. Nightlife in Bophut consists of a few beachside bars and stylish nightspots around the Fisherman’s Village offering cocktails, wine and a selection of beers.
If you’d like to be close to great dining, shopping and attractions and near one of Samui’s best beaches but prefer a quieter atmosphere than what’s on offer in Chaweng and Lamai, Bophut Beach is a great choice.
