Choeng Mon Beach is a calm and peaceful group of bays in Koh Samui’s northwest. Partially separated from nearby Bang Rak Beach and Chaweng by rugged coastline, Choeng Mon has much more of a relaxing, laid back atmosphere than its neighbours.

One of the quietest beaches in the northwest of Koh Samui, Choeng Mon has little nightlife and few real activities. What it does have, however, are several stunning stretches of beach without the mass development that can be found on Chaweng and Lamai.
Choeng Mon Beach itself is wide, sandy and clean, with several large rocks around the beach and vendors offering everything from fresh food to kayak rentals. Ko Fan Noi, a small island off the beach, can be reached on foot during low tide and is a fun place to explore.
Most of Choeng Mon’s hotels are aimed at families and package tourists, giving it much less of a backpacker feel than nearby Bang Rak Beach. There are several restaurants on and around the beach serving the usual Thai dishes, as well as some Western restaurants and cafes.
Choeng Mon has little nightlife, aside from a few beach bars. It’s a short 10 minute taxi ride to Bophut Fishermen’s Village or Chaweng Beach, both of which have a great selection of bars, restaurants and places to shop.
All in all, Choeng Mon is a quiet and peaceful beach that’s also conveniently located close to Koh Samui’s major attractions. If you’d like to be close to the island’s best sights but prefer a quiet night in to a wild night out, Choeng Mon Beach is a great place to stay.
