Phuket’s most northern beach before the bridge back to the mainland, Mai Khao Beach is very long and very secluded, even though it’s only 15 minutes drive from Phuket Airport.
Despite being the biggest beach in Phuket, Mai Khao Beach seems to be Phuket’s best kept secret. Over ten kilometres of sand stretch along Mai Khao beach, which is usually almost empty of tourists despite its scenic beauty and being very near to Phuket Airport. This is the classic “do nothing” location for a peaceful holiday.
Where To Stay On Mai Khao Beach
Fringed by Sirinath National Park, there are a handful of resorts scattered along here, tending towards the very upmarket – Mai Khao Beach is home to the Anantara Phuket resort and JW Marriott Phuket Resort and Spa amongst others.
There are several much more affordable mid-range resorts and guesthouses on Mai Khao Beach too, so it’s not just the preserve of the well-heeled. See this map of Mai Khao to view the location of hotels and check availability.
How To Get To Mai Khao Beach
Getting here is difficult unless you get a taxi from the airport – getting your Mai Khao guesthouse or resort to send a taxi for you is probably a good idea to ensure you get a driver who does actually know where he or she is going. You can also book a Phuket Airport private car transfer online.
Things To Do On Phuket
There are plenty of things to do in Phuket, both on and off the beach, including stunning views, health treatments, and the annual Vegetarian Festival.
