Lots of umbrellas and sun loungers are the order of the day on Kata Beach, one of Phuket’s most popular beaches for those looking for sun, sea and sand with nearby conveniences

Along with Patong and Karon beaches, Kata Beach is one of Phuket’s most popular stretches of sand and is quite similar to neighbouring Karon, comprising of a large, deep white sand beach bordered by a beach road around which there is a large collection of bars, restaurants and numerous shops too.
Kata is smaller than Karon and so a bit easier to get around – as with Karon, it’s very much a classic “sun, sea and sand” destination that appeals to families, package tourists and group tour holidays. While Kata is much more family friendly than Patong, there is a sizable collection of girlie bars further back from the beach in the networks of roads behind the main drag, but this doesn’t really interfere with the more sedate nightlife looking out to the sea.
