There are plenty of Krabi Town daytrips, from the popular choices of exploring nearby Railay Beach and heading to the islands from Ao Nang to relaxing in thermal springs and the adrenaline rush of white water rafting
Khlong Thom Hot Springs (Sra Morakot)
About 70km south of Krabi Town on the way to Trang are the hot springs near Klong Thom. It is about an hours ride by scooter. The pools are minerally enriched water that gleam emerald green. In the cascading flow are naturally hollowed-out bath tubs created by the thermal springs. It is a natural Jacuzzi to all intents and purposes. You can book a Hot Springs day trip online with Viator
Koh Panyi Floating Muslim Village
If you’re looking for a taste of real Thai life, a daytrip visit – or, for the full experience, an overnight homestay – to the floating Muslim village on the island of Koh Panyi is hard to beat. Meet the locals, see their way of life living over the water tethered to a small island away from the mainland.
Things To Do In Ao Nang, Railay and Krabi Town
There are lots of excursions and activities in Ao Nang itself, but also in nearby places like Railay Beach and Krabi Town.
Phang Nga Bay and James Bond Island
Ao Phang Nga is northwest of Krabi passing the small town of Ao Luk and some truly wonderful limestone karst scenery. Phang Nga Bay itself comprises an area of 350 square kilometers of turquoise sea and yet more limestone karst mountains although this time as semi submerged islands. A large portion of the bay is national park. The most well known of the islands is ‘Koh Tapu’ or ‘nail’ island. It became famous internationally after it was featured as a location in ‘The Man with the Golden Gun’ in 1974 and is now known far and wide as ‘James Bond Island’.
Rafting (Sompak River)
All travel agents offer white water rafting, often as part of an adventure package including bobbing about on All Terrain Vehicles. The Songpak River is about two hours from Krabi.
Railay Beach (Direct Boat from Krabi Town)
Longtail boats for Railay Beach leave regularly in high season from Chaofa Pier and take about 45 minutes. They are much less frequent than from Ao Nang though, so you if you have your own transport it is just as quick and easy to drive to Ao Nang and take a boat from there. See our Railay Beach Travel Guide for more info on Railay itself.
