Koh Lanta has numerous hotels with a specially designed pool for kids, letting your children enjoy playing in the water while you relax
If you ask any child what they want to do when they go on holiday, the first answer is usually “swimming!”. Kids love to play in the water and and have fun – it’s a great way to keep the occupied and busy so you can have a bit of relaxation during your Thailand holiday.
Koh Lanta is blessed with many nice beaches, however a few beaches are not as good for swimming so having a pool is essential to play and cool off in the day. Having a pool also offer a great social occasion as kids can interact with other kids, and no matter what language they speak, they still have fun together.
Below are our recommendations for Koh Lanta hotels with a kids pool where smaller children can play safe – and of course there’s a big pool too for everyone to enjoy.
Kawkwang Beach is situated at the northern tip of Koh Lanta, around 1 kilometre from Saladan village and the piers. This beach area is well known for being small and never crowded. This is mainly due to its location. The water here is very shallow, walk out 400 meters and it will still only be up to your waist.
Khlong Dao Beach stretches 3 kilometers long and is the first beach along Koh Lanta and due to this is the most developed. The beach is the most popular with families due to being a sheltered bay area with very shallow waters to enjoy. It also provides many restaurants and bars along the beach and roadside.
Long Beach is the longest beach on Koh Lanta stretching for 5 kilometers and has many beach bars and restaurants scattered along its length. The beach gently slopes towards the sea where the water goes deep very quickly. A perfect place to swim on a hot day.
Khlong Khong Beach is a very rocky beach. During high tide Khlong Khong’s beach and the colour of the water are amazing, however whilst it is low tide many rocks appear in many places making it not good for swimming. On the upside if you are with a family it is a very good place to look for small fish and crabs left behind in the rock pools. If you stay here make sure your resort has a pool or you can book a Khlong Khong private villa which all enjoys a swimming pool.
Khlong Nin Beach is around 15 km or a half hour drive from the main village of Saladan. The fine white sandy beach which is good fro swimming stretches for several kilometers and maintains a tranquil, relaxed, laid back atmosphere. This beach has many restaurants and bars along the beach front and the main shopping area is built on flat ground making it easy for walking with strollers.
Kantiang Bay is located towards the southern end of Koh Lanta, about a 45 minute drive from Saladan Village. It’s a much quieter, more secluded beach than Khlong Dao or Long Beach and boasts some of Koh Lanta’s best soft golden sand which stretches for nearly 2 kilometers.
