Although you are with your children on holiday you may like to enjoy a few special moments together on your own – like walking along the beach watching the sunset, having a romantic meal together or doing an activity together like a cooking class or kayak trip. And of course sometimes a few hours alone together doing absolutely nothing is a welcome break.
Kawkwang Beach is situated at the northern tip of Koh Lanta, around 1 kilometer from Saladan village and the piers. This beach area is well known for being small and never crowded. This is mainly due to its location. The water here is very shallow, walk out 400 meters and it will only be up to your waist.
Khlong Dao Beach stretches 3 kilometers long and is the first beach along Koh Lanta and due to this is the most developed. The beach is the most popular with families due to being a sheltered bay area with very shallow waters to enjoy. It also provides many restaurants and bars along the beach and roadside.
Khlong Khong Beach is a very rocky beach. During high tide Khlong Khong’s beach and the colour of the water are amazing, however whilst it is low tide many rocks appear in many places making it not good for swimming. On the upside if you are with a family it is a very good place to look for small fish and crabs left behind in the rock pools. If you stay here make sure your resort has a pool or you can book a private villa which all enjoys a swimming pool.
Khlong Nin Beach is around 15 km or a half hour drive from the main village of Saladan. The fine white sandy beach which is good fro swimming stretches for several kilometers and maintains a tranquil, relaxed, laid back atmosphere. This beach has many restaurants and bars along the beach front and the main shopping area is built on flat ground making it easy for walking with strollers.
Kantiang Bay is located towards the southern end of Koh Lanta, about a 45 minute drive from Saladan Village. It’s a much quieter, more secluded beach than Khlong Dao or Long Beach and boasts some of Koh Lanta’s best soft golden sand which stretches for nearly 2 kilometers.
