Krabi Airport (flight code: KBV) is the nearest airport to Ao Nang and Railay Beach as well as the islands of Koh Lanta and Koh Phi Phi. Krabi Airport also provides convenient access to other islands further along the coast like Koh Ngai, Koh Kradan, Koh Muk and Koh Lipe.

Places To Stay Near Krabi Airport
Krabi Airport is only a 45 minute drive from the popular tourist town of Ao Nang and Krabi Town. If you wish to stay as near as possible to Krabi Airport, there are several hotels only 5 minutes drive away in Neua Klong.
Krabi Airport Facilities
Krabi Airport is very small in comparison with other international airports. This is great for quickly checking in and walking to your departure gate. However, Krabi Airport only has a few basic amenities – don’t expect electronic goods, alcohol and tobacco shops like other international airports.
Krabi Airport Terminals
- There are two terminals at Krabi Airport:
- International Arrivals and Departures go through Terminal 1
- Domestic Arrivals and Departures go through Terminals 1 and 2
Krabi Airport Terminal 1
Terminal 1 is the only terminal which has Immigration facilities and all international arrival and departures go through this terminal.
The terminal is on two main levels. The upper level is dedicated to departures which include check in, reservations and ticketing and access to the departure lounge. There is also another walkway on the upper level with a restaurant and prayer room.
The lower level is dedicated to flight arrivals, with coffee shops, car hire, information desks and bank to change money when you exit the gates. The exit then leads directly out to the car park area.
Terminal 1 – Departures
Arriving At Terminal 1 To Check-In
If you are arriving by taxi, it will drop you off on Terminal 1’s upper level at the Departures entrance. When entering the terminal, the check-in counters can be found in the far left on the back wall of the terminal building.
If you arrive by car or bus then there is ample parking in the large car park on the lower level. You can enter the terminal building on the lower level, and go up to the upper level by the escalator or lift. These are located to the right side behind the information desk. Check-in will then be in front of you at the far end of the building.
As you enter the Terminal, you must put your bags through the X-Ray machine and pass through security before proceeding to check-in. Your bags will have security stickers attached to them to show they have been scanned.
Krabi Airport Terminal 1 Check-In
On the upper level of Terminal 1 check-in counters for Air Asia, Thai Airways, Firefly and Tiger Air can be found in the far left on the back wall of the terminal building.
Please note that check-in for Nok Air is in Terminal 2 only. See below for information on Krabi Airport Terminal 2.
Terminal 1 Self Check In – Air Asia Only
Air Asia have 6 self check-in machines opposite the Air Asia reservation counters which are located surrounding the lift to the lower level.
Krabi Airport Terminal 1 International Departures
After check in the departure gate can be found in the middle of the foyer the same side as the check in counters. After going through security with your hand luggage and immigration you can then wait in the departure lounge for your flight.
Flight Reservations And Ticketing
When entering Terminal 1 the flight reservations and ticketing counters are located on the upper level all along the wall by the entry and exit doors. Reservation counters include Thai Airways, Thai Lion Air, Air Asia, Bangkok Airways and Nok Air.
LTU Asia office, advising Thompson customers, is located on the lower level near the banks.

Krabi Airport Terminal 1 Food and Drinks
Yellow Orchid restaurant managed by Thai Airways is the primary sit down restaurant located on the walkway above the departure gate.
Illy coffee and delicatssen is located near the check in counters. It’s a small shop with limited seating area.
Subway and Black Canyon Coffee are located on the lower level.
Small shops offering snacks and drinks can be found on both levels.
Krabi Terminal 1 Toilets
Toilets can be located on the same wall as the entry and exit doors and in each corner of the building. The toilets also offer shower facilities.
Toilets are also located in the departure lounge.
Baggage Wrap
Baggage wrap can be found near the entry doors. It costs 200 baht per item
Prayer Room
A prayer room can be found on the walkway above the International Departures gate. You can access the walkway 2 ways – either by using the escalator which is opposite the Air Asia and Nok Air reservation counters or by using the stairs located near the walkway to terminal 2.
Souvenir Shops
These can be located near the walkway to terminal 2 or on the lower level near the exit door
Lifts and Escalators connecting the Upper and Lower Levels
Only one lift and one set of escalators connect the upper and lower levels in Terminal 1 building.
Upper Level – the lift is located behind the Air Asia self check-in machines. The escalators can be found opposite the sliding doors to Terminal 2.
If you are on the lower Level and want to go up the lift and escalator are located to the right side behind the information desk.
Exit Doors
The doors on the Upper level are for guests arriving to check in. The exit door can be found on the lower level. There is only one exit in to the Terminal 1 car park.
Krabi Airport Terminal 1 Lower Level: Arrivals
Terminal 1 International Arrivals
International Arrivals are on the lower level. You enter the terminal building, clear immigration and then go to the luggage carousels. Krabi Airport only has two luggage carousels. After you have your luggage, you can proceed through the exit gate. When departing this area with your luggage you will exit the sliding doors and come into the main terminal building.
If you have booked a Krabi Airport taxi transfer please look out for your driver who will be holding your name on a placard. There can be up to 30 drivers waiting for guests.
If you are traveling by ferry you should go to the pick up point in Terminal 1 upper level. you will need to go up the escalator or use the lifts.
Duty Free Shop
When arriving at Krabi Airport where you collect your luggage from one of the 2 carousels there is a small duty free shop before you exit the gates . The shop an open stall is very small. It’s recommended buying before you arrive as the selection is not great and many times you will find there are no staff attending the shop or it is closed.
ATM machines
One ATM machine is connected with the Krungthai bank found on the lower level near the exit – Terminal 2 has three standalone ATM machines located on the right hand side when entering the terminal from the walkway from terminal 1 on the departure level.
Bank and Currency Exchange
Two bank currency exchanges sit next to each other on the lower level. These are on the left side when going to the exit door. Krabi Money exchange is green and the Krungthai bank is blue.
Food and Drinks
Subway, Black Canyon coffee offer small assembled eateries are on the Lower level near the Arrivals gate. When you leave the Arrivals gate turn right.
Small shops offering snacks and drinks can be found on both levels.
Car Hire
On the lower level, next to the arrival gates car rental agencies can be found with desks in the middle of the foyer. Hertz, Budget, National Car Rental, Thai Rent A Car and Sixt all have desks with agents willing to help. You can hire a car in advance online so your vehicle will be waiting on arrival.
Toilets
Toilets can be located on the lower level of the terminal building. They are on the same wall as the entry and exit door in each corner of the building. The toilets can also be found near the luggage carousel before you exit the area.
Bag Drop
On the lower level near the exit door is a left luggage / bag drop counter. You are charged for leaving your luggage per item.
Souvenir Shops
These can be located on the lower level near the exit door or upper level near near the escalators and the walkway to Krabi Airport Terminal 2
How To Get To Krabi Airport Terminal 2
Krabi Airport’s Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 are connected by a small walkway. This can be found on the right side of the departure gates in between the souvenir shops. The sliding doors will automatically open and a short 50 meter walkway down hill gradient.
Exit Doors to Terminal 2
The exit door can be found straight ahead when departing the arrivals gate. Their is only one exit in to the Terminal 1 car park.
Krabi Airport Terminal 2
Terminal 2 is a ground level terminal for domestic departures and arrivals. Terminal 2 is quite small around 100 meters by 50 meters and is built on flat surface with tiles. This makes it easy to move around with luggage. On the left side of the Terminal is the flight reservation counters and check in counters. ( *Please note Air Asia and International flight check in is in terminal 1) In the middle area is the domestic departure gates which go through to the lounge area and on the right side is the flight arrivals gate. – all in the same building and foyer
In the far left corner of the building the terminal is connected to Terminal 1’s upper level with an automatic sliding door. When the doors open a short 50 metre walkway (slight uphill gradient) allows access to Terminal 1 baggage wrapping machines can be found in the walkway but frequently do not have staff (cost 200 baht per item wrapped).
Terminal 2 also enjoys its own very small car park which is always crowded I would recommend parking in terminal 1 and walking through. From Terminal 2 car park their are 2 entry / exit doors to the Terminal.
Krabi Airport Terminal 2 Check-in For Departure
Check-in at Krabi Airport Terminal 2 is only for Bangkok Air, Nok Air and Thai Lion
If you have parked in Terminal 2 car park and enter any door ( very small car park and is always crowded with 2 entry doors to the Terminal) the check in is on the left on the back facing wall of the terminal building. The area is separated from the foyer with glass partioning, you will see the security and x ray machine for baggage. After your bags have gone through the X-Ray machine the security staff will stick on a sticker saying the bags have been checked. You can then proceed to check in.
Please note: Air Asia and international flight check in is in Krabi Airport Terminal 1. You can walk from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1 by following the signs to the connecting walkway between the two terminals.
When entering Terminal 2 from the car park the flight reservations and ticketing counters are located on the far left side, facing wall. They are next to the toilets.
If entering from Terminal 1 – when you enter terminal 2 they are located directly on your left.
You can arrange tickets from airline agents Air Asia, Nok Air, Bangkok Airways, Thai Lion air
Toilets
The toilets are located along one wall, the toilet are on the opposite side of the building next to the Flight Reservation and ticketing counters or next to the Doi Chang coffee shop.
Domestic departures
The domestic departure check in is in the middle of the building. When going through the X-ray machine and tickets have been checked you will go through in to the lounge area which includes a small gift store and a drinks shop. Toilets are also located in this area.
Domestic Arrivals
When you come in to the terminal building from the runway either walking or by bus. You will travel from the ground floor up the escalators to the main concourse level where you will find a luggage carousel. When departing this area with your luggage you will exit the sliding doors and come into the main Terminal 2 building.
If you have booked a transfer please look out for your driver who will be holding your name on a plaque, there can be unto 30 drivers waiting for guests
If you are traveling by ferry you should go to the pick up point in Terminal 1
Information Desk
When arriving an information desk is on the left of the exit gates. This is a great place to also pick up a free map!
Food and Drinks
A small Illy Coffee and Delicatessen shop is located along the back wall near the entry and exit doors. This enjoys inside seating or a quaint outside seating area. It is a great spot to use the internet.
An overlooked place because people don’t know it exists is the Yummy Square. There is a small escalator and lift to a lower level located on the left side of the arrivals gate. Yummy Square offers simple chicken dishes, noodles and drinks. If enjoys a nice seating area overlooking the runway and is a perfect place to escape from the crowds.
Doi Chang coffee with a large seating area in front of it is located near the arrival gate.
There are small shops selling snacks located next to the entry and exit doors.
Souvenir Shops
If you haven’t bought your presents already there are a handful of souvenir shops dotted along the back wall where the entry and exit doors are
ATM Machines
Near the walkway to Terminal 1 are 3 stand up ATMs machines. The machines take all cards and allow many languages to be selected.
Bank and Exchange
The banks and change counters are located in Terminal 1, lower level near the exit doors
Baggage Wrap
baggage wrapping machines can be found in the walkway between terminals but frequently do not have staff ( cost 200 baht per item wrapped) . If there are no staff you can also find baggage wrap machines in terminal 1 upper level near the entry doors.
How To Get To Krabi Airport Terminal 1
In the far left corner opposite the ticket and reservation counters and near the ATM machines Terminal 2 is connected to Terminal 1’s upper level. when the automatic sliding doors open it’s a short 50 meter walkway (slight uphill gradient) to Terminal 1
Exit Doors
Two exit doors can be found going directly to the car park area or the walkway to Terminal 1
