The Islands around Krabi Town are becoming more increasingly popular. This has led to better daily travel services and if you depart from Krabi Town to Koh Yao or Koh Yao to Krabi Town there is a ferry service offering this route all year round.
First you will have to travel from your Krabi Town hotel to Ao Thalane pier which is the main pier connecting the Krabi mainland to Koh Yao. Ferry boats depart daily from Ao Thalane Pier in Krabi to Koh Yao Noi’s Tha Khao Pier and vice versa. See this map of Koh Yao Noi for more info on the island and what’s nearby to Tha Khao Pier.
The ferry boats are traditional Thai wooden boats with a large cabin in case of bad weather – they ferry not only passengers to and from Koh Yao but also goods.

Please note if you are intending to stay in one of Koh Yao luxury resorts Krabi town does not have any high standard luxury resorts. I would recommend staying a night in Ao Nang where there are a greater choice of Luxury places to stay. Ao Nang is only a 30 minute drive from Krabi Airport.
