Had Yao beach (also known as Long Beach) is a secluded, undeveloped beach only 35 kilometres from Krabi Airport. The area offers a taste of local life away from mass tourism
Nearly all of Had Yao Beach’s accommodation is built along the beach front. Because there are fewer resorts here, each one is spaced out from the other offering a sense of serenity, freedom and space. Walk out from your beach front resort and enjoy kilometres of beach stretching out as far as you can view with the island of Koh Jum in the distance.
Walk on to the road side and be surprised at how little traffic there is. The road side is flat and the area feels very rural with farmers fields and buffaloes grazing in the sun. You will not believe there was a beach 100 metres away.
The area is very calm and quiet – there are no people are hassling you to buy anything. Only a handful of seafood restaurants can be found with most guests eating in the resort restaurants. You won’t find a 7-Eleven or shopping mall close by either, only a fishing village at the southern end of the road.
Had Yao is a predominantly Muslim area with mosques scattered in between the farmers’ fields. Due to the location of some mosques, you may be woken by the morning call to prayer.[MidRangeHadYaoHotels]
Had Yao Is Best Visited November To April
We wouldn’t recommend visiting Had Yao during the Andaman Coast low season which runs from May to October. This is due to the winds changing directions and lots of plastic and rubbish collects on the beach and is not cleaned. If you visit during high season, which runs from November to April, you’ll find the beach looks great.
