Railay is a peninsula of the mainland, but it feels like an island since it can only be reached by boat. It boasts a couple of incredibly beautiful beaches and an interior that looks like a fantasy film set with rocky limestone cliffs rearing dramatically skywards, inland lagoons and hidden caves. Moreover, while it feels very secluded and like a real hidden beach paradise, Railay is nearby to Ao Nang which has great connections to the rest of Thailand.
There are no vehicles here and everywhere is walkable. Even though it is now popular it remains very peaceful indeed. Nor does it have any of the bustle of a big resort area.
