Octopus are so Amazing

Rob: After the first amazing dive at Hin Muang with the Manta Rays, we moved the boat about 800mtrs to the next dive site named Hin Daeng. Although they are so close to each other they are so different in topography and depth.

Unfortunately we didn’t get to see the Magical Manta’s on this dive they must have still been playing on Hin Muang. Not to worry tho as we had time to take in the breath taking Colours and reef fish on offer. Apart from seeing many Juvenile Emperor Angelfish, Ghostpipe Fish, Trevally and Barracuda’s we where able to witness this Octopus on the move.

The first video shows the Octopus hiding. If you give them time to get used to your presence and you don’t threaten them in anyway they will surprise you by popping out. I wasn’t so sure at first if he was going to come out but after a few minutes i noticed a tentacle movement as he was adjusting his body. Wicked here he comes.

As he disappeared under the rock I turned my camera off very pleased with watching the show of him changing his colours very quickly and his amazing movement in the water. I headed off around a rock but hit the current again. Changing direction up the small canyon I headed back to where I saw the Octopus 10minutes before.

Now this 2nd Octopus was sitting atop a rock and when he moves down he actually goes into the same whole as the 1st one. I am not sure if he is the same one tho as this one shows off a white stripe down his head whilst he is moving. He stays in the same whole for a brief moment but look closely when he comes out and disguises himself as a rock next to the anemone. Wow! talk about perfect camouflage, Octopus are so Amazing!

What a great day diving!
