Bali is one of Asia’s most stunning destinations and a perfect complement to Koh Lanta’s laid back vibe. Bali’s unique culture permeates the island and provides for memorable sightseeing amongst the temples, rice paddies and volcanos, along with excellent scuba diving to the north of the island, fascinating dance and music in Ubud and crazy nightlife in Kuta and Legian.
Going from Koh Lanta to Bali is quite easy thanks to daily AirAsia flights direct from Phuket to Bali. (See Skyscanner to work out the cheapest date to fly from Phuket to Bali). To go from Koh Lanta to Phuket, you can take the ferry or get a Koh Lanta to Phuket speedboat and minivan transfer which will take you door to door from your Koh Lanta hotel to Phuket Airport.
However, as AirAsia flights currently only depart at 0645 in the morning from Phuket to Bali, you won’t be able to make the journey from Lanta to Bali in one day – you’ll need to travel from Koh Lanta to Phuket the day before, get a hotel in Phuket for the night and then catch the early flight to Bali in the morning.
Getting from Bali to Koh Lanta, on the other hand, is much easier as you can do it all in the same day. AirAsia flights from Bali currently arrive into Phuket at 1505 – you can then get a Phuket Airport to Koh Lanta minivan and speedboat transfer to arrive on Koh Lanta around 7pm. The Phuket to Koh Lanta ferry only runs in the morning so if you would prefer to do that, you need to get a hotel for the night and book a ferry ticket at your hotel so that the ferry company will come and collect you in the morning and transfer you to Rassada Pier, where the ferries depart from.
